Jill Biden vs. Melania Trump: Holiday Decoration Edition

Who did it better? We have seen four Christmases with Melania Trump’s decorations, but this holiday season is only the first of four years with Dr. Jill Biden as First Lady. Therefore, it is only a fair that I present to you all of Melania’s first. The images from 2017 and 2018 are from the same hallway, and the same holds for the images from 2019 and 2020.

Theme: “Time-Honored Traditions”

A wonderful attempt to make the White House look whiter with all the snowy vibes; however, the internet decided to make comparisons to The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, and Silent Hill.

Theme: “American Treasures”

The holiday season decorations made memes and comparisons to The Shining, The Handmaid’s Tale, and many other horror movies. This particular hallway with the solid, blood red trees could be said to look like a bloody Christmas. This year was probably the most well-known of the four and most talked about.

Theme: “Spirit of America”

Love the shimmering white and gold. After previous years of criticism, this year seems to be an attempt at being more traditional, and the internet had significantly less comparisons to make.

Theme: “America the Beautiful”

Many troubled events and leaks took place in 2020. While being secretly taped by a former senior advisor, Mrs. Trump said, “I'm working ... my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?” Despite that, there was still less criticism for this year’s decorations than the previous years.

Now I present to you Jill’s first holiday season as the First Lady in the White House.

(This is of the same hallway of Melania’s 2019 and 2020 seasons)

This year’s theme is “Gifts from the Heart,” which becomes very clear with the boxes of presents crowding the doorway.

The stars above add a nice touch, reminiscent of the stars often put as topers to Christmas trees.

There have admittedly been comparisons of Jill’s decorations to those found in a nursing home. While Melania Trump clearly possessed more flair, each First Lady has their own taste in putting up the appropriate ornaments in the White House, so let’s not be too harsh with our judgements.

Only time will tell with Dr. Biden’s future holiday decorations and how those compare.
