I know we have all taken the quizzes that tell you what color or Taylor Swift album matches you the best. But have you ever taken a quiz on what type of friend you are? Even if you have, here is my take on the different types of people in friend groups.
The Smart One
If you are this person, then all your friends call you the “big brain”. Also if one of your friends is trying to calculate how many people buy a cookie from the snack bar and asks what 56-32 is, you are the first one to say 24.
The Shy One
If you are this person, then you are the person in your friend group who only talks to the people in that friend group. You may also be seen as a quiet and reserved person. But when you are with your friends, you bubble with energy.
The Best Friend
If you are this person, then you are the person in your friend group who is devoted to the friendship of everyone in the group. You also have many inside jokes. I bet that you will do anything in your power to make sure that there are no fights. You also will beg your teacher to put you all in the same group for a project.
The Artistic One
If you are this friend, then you always have doodles on your homework. And if one of your friends wanted you to help them with their homework, they would be so confused because of all the drawings. If your friends come to your house and go to your room, you won’t be able to see the walls. That is because of all the artwork you have. During lunch, instead of eating you will be sketching out your friends!
The Always Busy One
If you are this person, then you always have plans. Whenever your friends ask you to go to Scarsdale Village, you will always, “Sorry I’m busy!” Whether it's a bar/bat mitzvah or even a Christmas party, you are there! And on the weekend when your friends ask, “What are you up to?” you reply later and say, “Sorry, I was at a family friend’s house”.
The Sleepy One
If you are this person, then you are practically sleeping anywhere you go. During class your friends are always having to nudge you and whisper-yell, “Pay attention, Mrs. D will see you!” And during lunch, you are always zoning out, either daydreaming or sleeping with your eyes open. You are probably staying up till 1 AM to finish the never-ending math homework your teacher gave you.
The Trendy One
If you are this person, then you are up to date with all the newest trends. During lunch, you will definitely be telling all your friends about the newest dance that is all over Tiktok or Youtube.You will most definitely be carrying a Stanley tumbler around and wearing the newest type of Nike sneakers.
I wanted to poll my grade in order to see which types most kids identified with. I sent out a survey to the whole 7th grade. 27.6% of the students that answered chose the smart one. Seventh grade student Myra Nigam wrote, “The one who always says, “that was due TODAY!””. I think that it is very helpful to have a friend like that, but I would hope that they remind me that my essay was due a few days earlier.
Many students said that they were the crazy/energetic type. Lots of my friends fit this description. Another seventh grade response was from Emma Li, she said that, "The one who tries to keep good grades while making sure that no one in their friend group does anything crazy.” I believe that that is the best type of friend you can have.
